Moving in Ottawa has a rhythm. The last and first days of the month book up first, and summer weekends go weeks ahead. If your date is flexible, a mid-month weekday is easier to get and often cheaper.
Household movers are not licensed in Canada, so the paperwork is your protection. In Ontario, a business cannot charge more than 10 per cent above an estimate that is part of a written contract. Get the estimate in writing, with the hourly rate, the minimum hours and any extra fees.
